Five years ago, lung screening saved my life. I got a lung screening test because my sister told me there\u2019s now quick and painless technology to check my lungs. I never saw the point of lung screening. I smoke at least one pack a day and my father died from lung cancer \u2013 if I were to get it, that\u2019s just fate. At my age, should I not just accept fate? But my family refused to let me think this way. They said lung cancer can be treated if discovered early, and that the lung screening test is quick, painless, and covered by health insurance since I meet the criteria. So I did this for my family. I got the lung screening test. Luckily my lungs look ok, though the doctor did say that he wanted me to come back every year to make sure that I stay healthy.
